Construction Management Program

Phase 1 | Field Introduction

The Field Introduction provides a hands-on introduction to roofing. Field Engineers spend approximately 4-6 months in the field working with our service and production crews on various roofing systems.

Phase 2 | Pre-Construction

Centered around Pre-Construction, this phase focuses on the technical side of roofing. Project Engineers spend approximately 10-12 months working through the submittal process with our pre-construction department.

Phase 3 | Practical Application

With the foundational roofing knowledge in place, it’s time for the Practical Application. The next 4-6 months are spent on active projects where the real-life application is seen and practiced. Upon completion of the program, graduates move into estimating and operations roles throughout the company.

2022 Construction Management Program Graduates

“John joined the program in October 2022 at our Raleigh location. He showed up with an enthusiastic mindset on learning all things roofing. This along with being a quick study propelled John in the program. His work ethic in the field was welcomed by every team he worked with. John loved the pace, grind, and problem solving of new construction operations and his path came into focus.

John was promoted to Phase 2 of the program in May 2023 and was a welcome addition to the preconstruction team. His aptitude for submittal work was exceptional. John’s time in submittals with Raleigh’s new construction operations developed a cohesive unit. He helped in numerous ways which included tasks above and beyond his primary responsibilities. This all lead to John accepting an Assistant Superintendent position in August 2023. He hit the ground running and is succeeding in this role.”

“Alex joined the program in January 2022 at our Raleigh location. He had a distinctive career shift from pilot and flight instructor to roofing! Alex used his expertise in the subject matter from his prior career and owned that mindset in his role at BRC. This served him and his work well. Alex was promoted to Phase 2 of the program in April 2022 and was a welcome addition to our preconstruction team. His interest had been estimating from the start and became his focus during this time. Alex enjoyed new construction projects during his time in preconstruction, analyzing plans and specs making sure details were understood. All this along with demonstrating appreciation and support for those he works with lead to Alex accepting a Raleigh estimating position in March 2023 and is succeeding in this role.”

“Colton joined the program in July 2021 at our Charlotte location. Colton’s keen attention to detail did not go unnoticed. This trait benefited his path in the program and continues to benefit him in his career at BRC. He was a quick study during his time in the field and retained knowledge learned from our teams. Colton was promoted to Phase 2 of the program in January of 2022. He was a great addition to our preconstruction team as he fit well into the team culture. Colton’s focus came to estimating during this time. Colton’s demeanor and sense of humor make you feel welcomed, accepted, and comfortable approaching and interacting with him. His Always Good Work served him well and he accepted a Charlotte estimating position in January 2023 and is succeeding in this role.”

“Jonathan joined Baker Roofing Company in July 2019 at the Wilmington office warehouse. Jonathan’s work ethic and initiative quickly caught the attention of those around him. He entered the Construction Management Program in April 2021. During his training, Jonathan showed proficiency in the technical aspect of his work and adept communication. These skills, among others, helped him towards a focus in operations. Following graduation, Jonathan has accepted a Project Manager position in Raleigh.”

“Dan joined Baker Roofing Company in June 2021 and entered the Construction Management Program with a focus in preconstruction. During his training, Dan leaned on his experience within education to jump in with assisting and mentoring his peers. His leadership is well-received in the CMP. Following graduation, Dan has accepted a position as Sr. Project Engineer and will be working with our preconstruction team in Raleigh.”

During his training, Joseph was always happy to assist others and quickly established himself as a leader amongst his peers. Following graduation, he has accepted a position as a Sr. Project Engineer and will be working with our preconstruction team in Raleigh.”
