Training Boot Camps

Skills Based Boot Camps:
These Boot Camps are hosted at our Apex Location.
These week-long training sessions (M-F) are held in our Apex training facilities. Participants can expect a blend of classroom style learning and hands-on skill acquisition. All boot camps require proper PPE and clothing appropriate for a Baker work site. All necessary tools will be provided; participants are permitted to bring their own if they desire.
Restoration 101 is a 40-hour boot camp that covers the fundamentals of restoration sealant detailing for building envelope joints.
Participants will be trained in the terminology, tools, materials, and skills associated with Baker Best Practices for sealant joint repairs. The course will focus on proper sealant spreading techniques and hands-on instruction for the following applications:
- Precast concrete joints
- Fillet joints
- Butt joints (brick)
- Wet glazing techniques (windows)
Enrollment in this program is by selection only. Offices will be chosen by the General Manager of Restoration, Mark O’Brien, who will contact selected GM/DH’s regarding participation and future training opportunities.
This intro-level boot camp is a blend of Baker Best Practices (BBP) and manufacturer specifications for PVC, EPDM, and modified roofing. Instruction will be service oriented, concentrated on common details with in-service membrane. Participants engaged in this boot camp will expand knowledge in single-ply and modified roofing.
Attendees must have completed Service 101 as a prerequisite to this boot camp. This boot camp encompasses advanced techniques of the following skills using Baker Best Practices (BBP): flashing scuppers, flashing conical pipes, 3/4 pipes, tapping bolts, drain installation, small crickets, and liquid flashing.
This intro-level boot camp is a blend of Baker Best Practices (BBP) and manufacturer specifications for TPO roofing. Instruction will be concentrated on basic details including 2″ hand welds, inside/outside corners, and field wraps. Participants engaged in this boot camp will have solid foundational knowledge of TPO application.
This intro-level boot camp is a blend of Baker Best Practices (BBP) and industry standards. Instruction will be concentrated on the proper measuring, cutting and installation of drip edge, gravel stop and coping. Participants engaged in this boot camp will have solid foundational knowledge in the application of edge metal.
This intro-level boot camp is a blend of Baker Best Practices (BBP) and manufacturer specifications for EPDM roofing. Instruction is concentrated on basic techniques including hole repair, seam repair, field wraps, outside/inside corners, and scupper training. Participants engaged in this boot camp will have solid foundational knowledge of EPDM application.
This intro-level boot camp is a blend of Baker Best Practices (BBP) and manufacturer specifications for PVC roofing. Instruction will be concentrated on basic details including 2″ hand welds, inside/outside corners, and field wraps. Participants engaged in this boot camp will have solid foundational knowledge of PVC application.
This intro-level boot camp is a blend of Baker Best Practices (BBP) and industry standards. Instruction will be concentrated on the proper protocols of Welding on Modified Bitumen, working with SBS, APP, and Aluminum Bitumen membranes. We also focus on using cold-process applications for certain details this class entails. Participants engaged in this boot camp will have solid foundational knowledge of Mob-Bit application.
Metal Repair 101 is a 40-hour boot camp that covers the fundamentals of metal repairs. Participants will be trained in the terminology, tools, materials, and skills associated with Baker Best Practices for like for like metal repairs. The course will focus on proper installation of like for like repairs and the sealants that create a metal roof system:
- Large and Small Hole Repair
- Lap Repairs
- Skylight Panel Replacement
- Pipe Boots
- Fastener replacement
Management / Leadership Boot Camps:
These Boot Camps are hosted at our Cary Location.
These week-long training sessions are held in our Cary office. Participants can expect a blend of classroom style learning and hands-on skill acquisition. All boot camps management/leadership bootcamps require clothing appropriate for a Baker classroom instruction.
This intro level boot camp focuses on safety, planning, quality control, productivity, and technology from the standpoint of a manager. Group activities and open discussion support a collaborative learning environment where participants can share experience, gain valuable perspective and sharpen their management skills.
Management 201 builds on what was covered in Management 101, diving deeper into leading crews, handling day-to-day challenges, and developing the skills needed to run a job site effectively. Participants will work through real scenarios focused on team communication, accountability, and problem solving. Like Management 101, this boot camp uses group activities and open discussion to keep the learning hands-on and relevant to what managers face in the field.
